Wilsons popularity surpassed the US in 2014, after she was cast in Showtimes The Affair. In the show, Wilson played Alison Lockhart who is a young, troubled girl from a dark background. Lockhart is a lover of an unmarried Noah Solloway. Wilson won a Golden Globe in 2015 for Best Actress, Television Series Drama. The show also featured Maura Terney as well as Joshua Jackson. Wilson stated to British Vogue that she loved being a character from both viewpoints. Noah sees Alison as this confident, reckless sexually attractive version of herself. She sees herself in a totally different way which from the inside is dowdy and hidden in shadows, trying not to be noticed. The actress added "I consider that America is such a moralistic society and too critical. Everything that happens in the show appears like a shocking scene." Wilson quit the show in 2018 to many fans' shock, but she didn't provide any particulars. I had been tempted to leave however she refused to let me talk about the decision. Wilson was a part of the thriller horror I Am the Pretty Thing Living in the Home in 2016, and she played the cryptic PT Stella as the Sci-Fi romance How to Talk to Girls at Parties. To add to her list of horror films, Wilson will also star in the British film adaptation to The Little Stranger. The supernatural thriller was adapted from the Sarah Waters' novel. Wilson is also the producer of the film.
